ABB's Octopus Marine Software (product library purchase) will be installed on three 85000DWT multi-purpose vessels built by Torvald Klaveness in the Yangtze River Shipping (Location Review News) to help the new vessel comply with upcoming emissions regulations.
It is reported that the Octopus software system complies with the requirements of the IMO Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan (SEEMP) and can support future EU monitoring (product library supply and supply), reporting and verification (MRV) rules, collecting information through ship sensors (product library supply), and Provides analysis of key performance parameters, such as fuel efficiency, to help Klaveness optimize the performance of the entire fleet.
The IMO Ship Energy Efficiency Management Program hopes to establish a mechanism for a ship or a shipping company to improve the energy efficiency of ship operations. ABB's Octopus software will monitor and display important ship fuel consumption and torque related performance to achieve the goals of the IMO Ship Energy Efficiency Management Program. Torvald Klaveness's fleet performance center will be responsible for using the Octopus software to monitor the performance of the entire fleet.
In addition to the monitoring and reporting capabilities of Octopus software, ABB's recently launched Torductor Marine will help improve the efficiency of the ship. This torque measurement system optimizes the fuel efficiency of the engine (purchasing supply) and ocean-going vessels. Sensors mounted on the opposite side of the propeller (purchased from the product library) can send information to the Octopus software to visualize the data.
