Michelin Releases New Generation of Engineering Tire Management System MEMS®4
Recently, Michelin has announced the launch of MEMS®4, a new generation of interconnected tire management system for mining, adding two breakthrough features of real-time GPS and accelerometer data to provide truck position and status sharing, electronic fence and vehicle routing analysis, and The existing TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system) has been transformed into a comprehensive monitoring and reporting platform for tires, trucks, mine transportation and route analysis.
Michelin Engineering Tire Management System MEM S®4
Bruce Brackett, the global vice president of Michelin Engineering's tire product line, said: “The MEMS® 4 system is a truly breakthrough solution that not only helps customers manage the tires themselves, but also includes key parts of the mine transportation system. It can improve safety. , productivity and reliability while reducing vehicle maintenance and tire usage costs."
As the only TPMS system on the market that can record data separately for each tire serial number, the MEMS®4 is equipped with an upgraded data acquisition tool that can transmit data to the cab and mine control room in real time. The new system also has dedicated reports and graphs for different sections of the mine. Customized data displays and easily exported data can be used for further analysis.
MEM S®4 Display Pages and Sensors
The Michelin open-pit mine tires (XDR2, XDR3 and XDR250) are all set aside for the installation of the new system, and the sensors can be quickly and safely mounted on the tires. The migration of existing data to the new system is also quite easy. There will be Michelin professional engineers providing remote or on-site assistance on a global basis to ensure that the operations team can use it normally. Customers can acquire new systems by purchasing or renting them.
The main functions of MEMS®4 include:
Truck Location and Status Sharing: Displays the real-time location of each truck on the map, closely monitors all production and transportation, and displays truck status and any level of alerts.
E-Fence: Allows customers to set the scope and formulate rules within the mine site based on site conditions. Safety is the top priority for all mine operations. Managing the fleet and operations in real time will make the operating environment safer.
Vehicle Route Analysis: Accelerometers provide accurate data on vehicle and tire usage, providing a reference for the design and optimization of transportation routes. If the tires gradually warm up, the dump truck can be driven to a relatively less severe road, or the truck can be alternately driven on a long short-circuit line to minimize accidents and required maintenance. The temperature monitoring function will be activated in 2018. Mine operators typically seek to maximize production efficiency, and MEMSTM 4 can help reduce TKPH*-sensitive mines from equipment failures and downtime.
Tire management: Whether or not the tire is loaded, it is monitored from time of installation to disassembly. Monitoring is carried out by highly reliable sensors, which continuously measure tire temperature and pressure, and use an intelligent pressure algorithm to take into account seasonal temperature changes. If any problems are detected, the driver and control room will receive real-time alert notifications. In addition, the new system has eliminated expensive, time-consuming and laborious on-site tire pressure checks and replaced it with remote control of tire pressure from the control room.
*TKPH: Tons per kilometer per hour, is a key feature of the actual operating capacity of a tire, depending on the load capacity corresponding to each tire size, and the number of kilometers per hour allowed for each type of tire.
