FAW-GM's new plant construction project is an important layout for the long-term development strategy of China FAW and General Motors. It is a combination of the advanced management concepts of U.S. General Motors and China FAW's more than 50 years of experience as a car builder, and is dedicated to the technological transformation project. . FAW-GM's Harbin-Haixin plant commenced construction on May 27, 2009. On February 18, 2011, the civil engineering project was basically completed and the equipment relocation started. On February 28, 2011, the first production verification tester was off the assembly line.

FAW-GM's new plant covers an area of ​​500,000 square meters and has a construction area of ​​125,000 square meters. It has four production processes for stamping, welding, painting, and assembly, and two assembly lines for axles and frames. The first phase of the new plant has been completed, with an annual output of 100,000 sets of liberation series light trucks. After the completion of the second phase of the project, the production capacity will reach 200,000 vehicles.

Compared with the old factory, the new factory has made great progress in terms of process equipment, management concepts, and product quality. It has spanned 20 years and has fallen from the previous automotive equipment manufacturing industry to a leading manufacturer in the domestic light truck industry.
