BMW will take a stake in British electric car company?

Recently, the German BMW Group is planning to acquire a 2% stake in Chargemaster, a supplier of electric vehicle charging stations in the UK.

According to Sina Finance reported on July 24, the source said that the agreement will be announced before the BMW i3 electric car was released on the 29th, but he declined to disclose the price of this transaction. British Sky News reported that the deal is worth about £500,000.

Chargemaster designs, produces and markets electric vehicle charging stations for residential, commercial and public use, and provides software, installation and maintenance services. In 2012, the company supplied 2,800 charging stations and generated 3.6 million pounds in revenue. The company recently announced that it plans to list on the London Stock Exchange's Alternative Investment Market (AIM) for financing expansion.

In March of this year, the European Commission announced the “Clean Fuel Strategy”, which requires a large number of additional electric vehicle charging stations and plans to increase the number of European electric vehicle charging stations to approximately 800,000 by 2020.
