Michelin 2012 road safety campus walks into Xi'an
On September 21, 2012, "My first step, safety further" Michelin 2012 road safety campus activities in the second half of the year kicked off in Xi'an. Today, more than 120 students from the second or third year of Majiazhai Elementary School in Weiyang District of Xi'an participated in this lively road safety course. According to statistics, traffic accident injuries are becoming the number one killer of children. These traffic accidents are largely related to the poor and unsafe travel habits of children. There are currently 6 grades in Majiazhai Elementary School in Weiyang District, Xi'an. There are nearly 350 students in the school, 90% of whom are children of migrant workers. The president of the school, Li Julian, expressed his welcome and gratitude to Michelin's road safety on campus activities. Principal Li said, “The children here are mostly children of migrant workers. Traffic safety awareness is very weak, and there is also a lack of appropriate safety knowledge. The children’s traffic safety, in addition to the improvement of their own consciousness, also needs to be maintained by schools, families, and other related departments. The Michelin Road Safety Campus activity was launched in 2011 and continues to this day. As of the first half of this year, nearly 5,000 primary school students from 14 schools have received road safety education courses covering six cities. In 2012, Michelin plans to continue this activity in elementary schools in Xi'an and Qingdao in the second half of the year. Most of these schools are children of migrant workers. These "little migratory birds" follow their parents to come to city life. In the face of a complex traffic environment, they urgently need traffic safety education. In addition to the traffic safety knowledge class, Michelin also donated Road Safety Gift Packs such as "One Day Safety Poster" and school supplies to the school.
