Sinopec's ethylene production broke through 10 million tons
On the 13th, it was learned from China Petrochemical Corporation that in 2011, Sinopec had cumulatively produced 10,037,500 tons of ethylene, which exceeded the 10 million-ton mark for the first time. The annual ethylene production increased by 848,000 tons over the previous year, an increase of 9.23%.
According to statistics, in the first three quarters of 2011, Sinopec’s ethylene production was 7.356 million tons, and the output in the fourth quarter was 2.618 million tons, accounting for about 26.7% of the year. In the fourth quarter, ethylene production rose rapidly, which helped China's petrochemical ethylene production to break 10 million tons.
It is understood that, in 2011, Sinopec’s ethylene production companies had limited production in a timely manner around the domestic supply of refined oil products around June, contributing to the supply of refined oil products. In December, when the chemical product market was weakening, the decisive adjustment of the equipment load ensured the maximum benefit of the company. In response to the actual imbalance in the supply and demand of chemical light oil, the Sinopec Chemicals Group organized Tianjin, Maoming, Jinling, Guangzhou and other qualified refinery companies to import South Pars Condensate, seizing the opportunity of the market to import naphtha and making full use of the Group. The internal oil, light hydrocarbons, and various dry gas, tail gas, light hydrocarbons, etc., of the refinery and aromatics plant ensure the high production and stable production of the ethylene plant.
Sinopec expects that with the gradual completion of the Wuhan 800,000-ton/year ethylene and Zhongyuan ethylene raw material route transformation projects, domestic ethylene production in 2012 is expected to further increase.
